Charleston, SC - Trident, Summerville and Moncks Corner Medical Centers have each been granted a three-year term of accreditation in Echocardiography in the areas of Adult Transthoracic and Adult Transesophageal by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). Echocardiography is the use of ultrasound waves to investigate the action of the heart.

“This designation ensures we are committed to standardization and quality reporting,” said Allison Walters, assistant vice president of Cardiovascular Services for Trident Health. “To achieve this recognition, all of our staff became 100 percent certified. The process was a collaborative effort with our physicians to address the key components that ultimately help us continue improving quality.”

Accreditation by the IAC means these facilities have each undergone a thorough review of its operational and technical components by a panel of experts. The IAC grants accreditation only to those facilities that are found to be providing quality patient care, in compliance with national standards through a comprehensive application process including detailed case study review.
