It’s our pleasure to welcome you to Trident Health. We are located in one of the country’s most beautiful and culturally attractive regions — South Carolina’s Lowcountry. For more than 40 years Trident Health has been an important part of the area’s growth and development. We look forward to continuing our long relationship with families in Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester Counties. Trident Health is a 505-bed health system comprised of two acute care hospitals – Trident Medical Center and Summerville Medical Center; four freestanding emergency departments – Brighton Park Emergency, Centre Pointe Emergency, James Island Emergency and Moncks Corner Medical Center; and a 60-bed inpatient mental health hospital, Live Oak Mental Health & Wellness.

The success of Trident Health rests on the expert and compassionate care provided by our more than 2,000 employees and a medical staff of more than 500 physicians. The Joint Commission has recognized the quality of the care provided by Trident Health by rewarding us with certifications for a large numbers of services including heart failure, stroke, oncology, and orthopedics.

Trident Medical Center is a 321-bed acute care hospital. Key services include Level ll Trauma and adult ER, cardiovascular, orthopedics, oncology, and robotic surgery. The Trident Breast Care Center also provides services for women and men navigating through breast cancer treatment.

Summerville Medical Center is a 124-bed acute care hospital. Key services include adult and pediatric ER, women’s and children’s services, colorectal surgery, orthopedics and spine. The hospital recently announced a $66 million expansion that will increase its licensed beds by 40 percent.

With the opening of Live Oak Mental Health & Wellness, families in the Charleston, SC region now have access to the first mental health hospital to open in the state’s Lowcountry in more than 30 years. Adolescents (age 12+), adults and geriatric patients receive inpatient and outpatient care in the 60-bed hospital that opened in June 2023. Among its many features are large outdoor healing areas.
