Trident Health names Dr. Lee Biggs Chief Medical Officer

Charleston, South Carolina – Dr. Lee Biggs has been named as the new Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Trident Health, a 437-bed hospital system that includes Trident Medical Center, Summerville Medical Center, Moncks Corner Medical Center and Centre Pointe Emergency.

Prior to joining Trident Health Dr. Biggs served as Chief Medical Officer of HCA Healthcare's 334-bed Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, ID. Dr. Biggs, a retired Captain in the United States Navy, has also served in a number of clinical and leadership roles including Chief Clinical Officer, Chief of Staff and Chief of Surgery at Naval Hospitals in Naples, Italy, Guam, Virginia, Afghanistan and Naval Hospital Beaufort in South Carolina.

A native of Asheville, North Carolina, Dr. Biggs earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and holds a Master's in Public Health (MPH) from George Washington University. He completed residency in OB/GYN at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, VA and is board-certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has completed a fellowship with the Joint Commission and is a Certified Physician Executive with the American College of Physician Executives.

Dr. Biggs joins Trident Health during a key period of service expansion, increasing patient acuity, building expansion and the development of new graduate medical educational programs. In his role as CMO, Dr. Biggs will lead Trident Health's clinical improvement efforts collaborating with the health system's physicians, Board of Trustees, medical directors and staff.
