Trident Health expands access to mental health services in downtown Charleston, SC

Charleston, SC (November 19, 2024) –Trident Health announces a new mental health counseling service with the opening of Live Oak Mental Health Therapy Center in downtown Charleston.

“The new Live Oak Mental Health Therapy Center represents an important step forward as we continue addressing the ongoing mental health needs in the Charleston region,” said Jeff Wilson, President, Trident Health, and CEO, Trident Medical Center.  “By offering convenient, therapy services for individuals aged 12 and older, we are enhancing the well-being of our community.”

The center provides virtual and in-person individual and group therapy in a boutique office setting.  It is located at 40 Calhoun Street, Suite 230, Charleston, SC 29401.

Therapists Patricia Spens, LPC and Michelle Park, LPC will provide compassionate, collaborative and holistic therapy for adults and adolescents, including:

• Individual sessions
• Family sessions
• Group-based sessions
• Virtual options to accommodate work and school schedules
• Collaboration with Live Oak Mental Health & Wellness, Trident Health’s 60-bed freestanding mental health hospital, for patients who may benefit from inpatient or intensive outpatient mental health programs

Patricia Spens, LPC, has more than 30 years of experience working with individuals, couples and families.  “My belief is that this journey is a lifelong process and there is often a time in our lives when people need to speak to someone who can help them process whatever they are experience with no judgement.”

Michelle Park, LPC, earned a Master of Counseling Psychology at the University of Kansas and a Bachelor of Psychology at University of Central Missouri. “You know you’re ready for therapy when you’re in a vulnerable place and you admit you need help.”
