Trident Medical Center will add new operating rooms
This project will require the closing of the ambulatory care center entrance for 18 months.
Charleston, S.C. — On Monday, July 17, 2023 Trident Medical Center will begin a nearly $33M, 18-month project that will add three new operating rooms, a new entrance to the Ambulatory Care Center (ACC), and other benefits.
The project will require the closing of the ACC entrance during construction. Patients will access the ACC and Cardiac Procedures Recovery Unit (CPRU) through the hospital's main entrance, which will open at 5:00 am. The ACC registration and lobby will remain open during construction.
In order to meet the growing demand for services at Trident Medical Center, it recently opened a new 60-bed freestanding mental health hospital, Live Oak Mental Health & Wellness; a new 600+-space parking garage (parking and valet services are free); and a new Cath Lab.
On August 8, Trident will open James Island Emergency, a freestanding ER located at 945 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412.
Trident Medical Center is a part of Trident Health, which also includes Summerville Medical Center, Brighton Park Emergency, Centre Pointe Emergency and Moncks Corner Medical Center.
Both Trident Medical Center and Summerville Medical Center are recipients of the America's 250 Best Hospitals Award from Healthgrades and earned an "A" in Leapfrog's Spring 2023 scorecard.
