High-risk pregnancy management

Summerville Medical Center's Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic is open five days a week to offer specialized care for expectant mothers—and their unborn babies—if your pregnancy is classified as high risk. Conditions that contribute to a high-risk pregnancy include hypertension, previous complex pregnancies, being pregnant with multiples, genetic history and age.

Our perinatologists (maternal-fetal experts) evaluate high-risk mothers-to-be on a consistent basis while also tracking fetal development. Services include:

  • Advanced ultrasound services
  • Fetal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
  • Genetic counseling and testing
  • Perinatal evaluation and treatment plan for each high-risk patient.
  • Prenatal testing

Breast care

Consistently evaluating your breast health is paramount to the early detection of breast cancer. A full spectrum of breast imaging and diagnostics, including mammograms and biopsies, are performed at the Trident Breast Care Center and Summerville Breast Center, plus normal ultrasounds and screening for osteoporosis.

Additionally, we offer mammograms at Moncks Corner Medical Center, so you don't have to travel far from home for a breast cancer screening.

Should you receive a breast cancer diagnosis, Trident Health's cancer care program offers advanced treatment options and support throughout your cancer journey.

Schedule a Mammogram

You can now schedule a screening mammogram online. For assistance scheduling your screening or diganostic mammogram please call 877-357-0156.

Gynecologic surgery

For some women, certain conditions like uterine fibroids endometriosis require surgical intervention. Our gynecologic surgeons are trained in minimally invasive robotic surgery for a variety of these types of procedures, including:

  • Single-site hysterectomy
  • Myomectomy (fibroid removal)
  • Endometriosis resection

Robot-assisted surgery allows the surgeon to be extremely precise and requires smaller incisions than traditional surgery, meaning the patient experiences less pain, reduced blood loss and scarring, a shorter hospital stay and a faster recovery.

Obstetric & Gynecology Residency Program

In 2022, Summerville Medical Center launched an Obstetrics & Gynecology Residency Program. This program marks another important milestone for Summerville Medical Center's growing women's and children's program to help train the next generation of caregivers for women across the Lowcountry.
