High-risk pregnancy management
Summerville Medical Center's Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic is open five days a week to offer specialized care for expectant mothers—and their unborn babies—if your pregnancy is classified as high risk. Conditions that contribute to a high-risk pregnancy include hypertension, previous complex pregnancies, being pregnant with multiples, genetic history and age.
Our perinatologists (maternal-fetal experts) evaluate high-risk mothers-to-be on a consistent basis while also tracking fetal development. Services include:
- Advanced ultrasound services
- Fetal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)
- Genetic counseling and testing
- Perinatal evaluation and treatment plan for each high-risk patient.
- Prenatal testing
Consistently evaluating your breast health is paramount to the early detection of breast cancer. A full spectrum of breast imaging and diagnostics, including mammograms and biopsies, are performed at the Trident Breast Care Center and Summerville Breast Center, plus normal ultrasounds and screening for osteoporosis.
Additionally, we offer mammograms at Moncks Corner Medical Center, so you don't have to travel far from home for a breast cancer screening.
Should you receive a breast cancer diagnosis, Trident Health's cancer care program offers advanced treatment options and support throughout your cancer journey.
For some women, certain conditions like uterine fibroids endometriosis require surgical intervention. Our gynecologic surgeons are trained in minimally invasive robotic surgery for a variety of these types of procedures, including:
- Single-site hysterectomy
- Myomectomy (fibroid removal)
- Endometriosis resection
Robot-assisted surgery allows the surgeon to be extremely precise and requires smaller incisions than traditional surgery, meaning the patient experiences less pain, reduced blood loss and scarring, a shorter hospital stay and a faster recovery.
Trident Health System's urogynecology program focuses on providing personalized Urogynecological treatment in female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. Urogynecology is the board certified surgical subspecialty of comprehensive female pelvic health encompassing related urology, gynecology, colorectal and neurologic conditions. Our treatment services include conditions such as:
- Vaginal, bladder and rectal prolapse
- Pelvic or lower back pain
- Incontinence (urinary and/or fecal)
Often, pelvic floor therapy can be helpful in resolving some issues. When surgery is needed, some pelvic floor disorders can be treated with minimally invasive robotic surgery. To schedule a pelvic floor therapy appointment, contact (843) 970-5020.
