Our state-of-the-art pediatric ER includes board-certified pediatric emergency physicians and pediatric nurses. Our ER has private rooms and includes child-friendly artwork, colors and special lighting to make the hospital visit more welcoming for kids.

Intensive care for kids and their families

If additional care beyond the ER is required, Summerville Medical Center is well-prepared to take care of your child's long-term health needs with our comprehensive pediatric services. Our six-bed inpatient and intensive care unit is designed so parents can comfortably stay with their child.

Our pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) also includes a communal play area, where children can spend time with family members or child life specialists. Also, the unit features a procedure room for potentially distressing situations such as shots and IV placement. That way, the child’s room remains a “safe haven” for healing.
